Faith of the Church
The Mission Statement for Oakmont Presbyterian Church is:
Glorify God – Develop disciples – Live out the love of Christ.
We follow the answer to the first question of the Westminster Shorter Catechism: “Man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” Worship is the central activity for our family of faith, as we assemble before God to praise, and pray, and hear God’s Word. We are also called through our personal devotions and our daily living, to glorify God by displaying His love to others.
We are called to be Christ’s disciples, to follow His teachings. We wish to become better disciples as we understand God’s will for our lives and we wish to invite others to join us on this exciting journey of faith. Our Christian Education provides opportunities for children, youth, and adults to learn about God’s Word and how to apply it to our life’s journey as disciples.
Combining the Great Commission of Jesus Christ with our interpretation of the mission needs to our world today, we seek to serve the world in love. We accomplish this through hands on activities such as serving meals and repairing houses, through monetary contributions to the several local and foreign mission agencies, and through activities designed to invite others to know Christ. Just as we spend time on Sunday mornings and in mission work, our lives are important daily expressions of our love and worship.
Oakmont seeks to be a welcoming church, inviting neighbors to join us for worship, to grow as disciples, and to serve in the mission of God’s Kingdom in the world
